A morning visit
At 8 (which is quite early for me) I was already waiting near the door of a doctor - infectionist. Had to wait a bit, of course, so the nurse gave me a small newspaper to read. It was about the diseases that you might get while traveling. I wasn't excited to read about all those pains, fevers and stomach ackes that are waiting for me in Ghana:s
But when I went in to see the doctor, she was very nice and with a smile on her face described the symptoms of malaria, yellow fever, some bugs that can hurt me etc. Did you know that there are four variations of malaria: from type 1 (not harmful, just a bit of headackes and stuff) till type 4 (the probability of dieing is quite high...)? And guess which type of malaria do mosquitos in Ghana usually transmit? Type 4 of course! Wasn't glad to hear that.
Actually it's a bit scary. I might be preparing not only for a life changing experience for my soul, but a life changing experience for my body too. Let's just hope it's not gonna be that dramatic...
