March 6th – a memorable day in Ghana’s history. It’s the day of independence from Great Britain. And this year it’s even more special, because it’s 50th anniversary or golden jubilee as they like to call it here. Organizing committee of this great day worked for more than a year, spent millions of dollars and presented (supposedly) the biggest celebration Ghana has ever seen. My personal opinion is that they spent half of the money on fireworks, which were really amazing and lasted for straight 15 minutes!!!

For me the anticipation for this day started just when I got back from the West Africa trip, as I was quite surprised to see so many Ghanaian flags all over town. But on the day itself, not only buildings and streets were full of it, EVERYBODY seemed to feel a duty to wear something Ghanaian. I have to say it was really an amazing sight! (reminded of the world cup a bit:))

AIESEC wouldn’t be AIESEC if we wouldn’t have a meeting on the day like that – hey, it’s the only day all four of us found time!:p So I missed a bit of public celebration (Daniela, Stevan, Linn and Jorge or Burrito:p)

but for the most fun part I was there:

Norwegians (two out of three pictured are pictured here:p) promised that Norwegian day of independence (17 of May) will be even more fun!

That’s the only reason (I'm sure you realize I'm lieing;)) I changed my ticket today: 22nd June… Thursday… right after quiz night my plane will take me home…. It could have been next Wednesday… I got so sad about it that I went to MaxMart and bought goodies to cheer me up for 100 000:) Wanna know, what cheers me up here? Dark bread, mocarella cheese and apple souce:)
